Tile Terrain

Exports selected Scalable Mesh (3SM) into a series of files according to a defined set of arbitrary planar shapes or 3D slabs defined with a geometry type Solid.

Access the tool:

  • Realty Modeling workflow: Deliver tab > Export > Tile Terrain.
  • Open Reality Mesh Attachments dialog then select Tools.

Draw the shapes or slabs with standard MicroStation tools and include text inside the shape (on the same plane) or the 3D slabs. It is recommended to draw the shapes or slabs on a separate level for simplicity.

In case of shape elements the 3D extent considered is the orthogonal extrusion of the planar shapes (bounded by the point cloud extent).

In case of Slabs, the 3D extent is simply the extent of the slab. Slab geometry can be easily modified using handles on the elements but push/pull operations should be avoided since the Solid will be converted to SmartSolids which are not recognized by the tool.

To be a valid tile, the shape must be coplanar and the text defining the filename must be on the polygon surface (if drawn from a top view the polygon and text must be at the same elevation).

A good way to easily create valid shapes with filenames is to first set the right active depth and next to disable accusnap (or snapping on point cloud) before drawing any shape and placing the text.

SettingDescription
Destination Sets the destination for the resulting files.
Scan Model Specifies the DGN on which the shapes and text defining the tile extents are located.
Scan Level Specifies the level on which the shapes and text defining the tile extents are located.
